Arsenal’s chances of winning the Premier League took a big hit on Wednesday, April 23, after a 2-2 draw at home against Crystal Palace. The Gunners needed a win to stay in the title race, but the dropped points now put Liverpool just one point away from becoming champions.
Arsenal started strong, with Jakub Kiwior scoring a header in the 3rd minute to give the home side the lead. But Crystal Palace fought back, and Eberechi Eze equalized in the 27th minute with a well-taken volley.
Before halftime, Leandro Trossard put Arsenal ahead again with a calm finish in the 42nd minute. Despite leading 2-1, Arsenal couldn’t hold on. In the 83rd minute, Jean-Philippe Mateta took advantage of a mistake by William Saliba and chipped the ball over Aaron Ramsdale to make it 2-2.
The result leaves Arsenal on 67 points with four games left. Meanwhile, Liverpool are at the top with 79 points. That means if Liverpool get at least a draw against Tottenham on Sunday, they will officially win the Premier League title.
Arsenal now have to shift focus to their Champions League semi-final against Paris Saint-Germain, as their Premier League hopes are slipping away. Crystal Palace, on the other hand, continue to impress and proved again they are tough opponents—even against top teams.
